British women

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

Take any average-looking or attractive woman, have her open her mouth and start speaking with a British accent (English, Australian, Irish, even Scottish, just not Cockney) and I immediately find her massively more hot.

I’m just saying.

P.S. Case in point: Joanne Colan (Before you ask, I consider her attractive, not average looking. Having a British accent just makes her that much more hot.)

Why Does iTunes Keep Having Problems Burning CDs?!

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

I’ve used iTunes for years now. I’ve burned CDs in the past on my desktop computer using iTunes before. I’ve had to tweak iTunes’ files to recognize my CD/DVD burner to get it to work, but I’ve done it. I know it’s worked before.

I updated to iTunes v7.3.0.54 recently. I tried to burn an audiobook to a CD a little while ago. I was told, “Disc burner or software not found…”

I ran diagnostics on the CD/DVD burner. It yielded:

Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
System manufacturer System name
iTunes 7.3.0.54
CD Driver 2.0.6.1
CD Driver DLL 2.0.6.2
LowerFilters: PxHelp20 (2.0.0.0), pfc (2.5.0.204),
UpperFilters: GEARAspiWDM (2.0.6.1), InCDPass (4.3.0.5),
Current user is an administrator.
Video Display Information:
NVIDIA GeForce 6600

Connected Device Information:
Disk drive, ST3250620AS, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [0,0]
Disk drive, ST3250823AS, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [0,0]
CD-ROM Drive, PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-109, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [0,0]

If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.

Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.

Failed while scanning for CD / DVD drives, error 2510.

Virtual drives can sometimes interfere with reading and writing CDs in iTunes. If this is a virtual drive and you are having problems with other drives, try uninstalling the virtual CD application.

E: Unsupported CD or DVD drive.

Writing CD text is turned on in the preferences. If you’re having problems burning CDs, try turning this preference off.

I have no virtual drives. I’d love to follow Apple’s advice and turn off text writing if they would enable it!

This is seriously yanking my chain. Why does Apple mess up CD burning in iTunes each and every time I fix their mistake and make it possible to burn CDs?!

The IT Crowd

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

Since I no longer have cable television and the major U.S. networks are all on Summer hiatus, my television watching has ground to a stand still. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled across a funny British television show dealing with computer geeks called The IT Crowd.

It’s like a sort of The Office (either U.K. or U.S. version) mixed up with a little bit of The Geek Squad.
